Adoption
Chez Chevaux believes that adoptive homes must provide the best match for all concerned. All of our current residents are ex/failed racehorses. The "perfect" match will happily marry both the horses and adopters hearts, talents, abilities, aspirations and lifestyles. Chez Chevaux establishes reasonable adoption fees and adoption contracts are written on a case-by-case basis, appropriately tailored to each horses' level of experience, rehabilitation, potential, training, soundness and age. We make site visits to all potential adoptive homes and we will require a letter of recommendation from your veterinarian. Our rehabilitated and retrained horses may be ridden either by taking a lesson from us or by bringing your trainer to our facility. We want all potential adopters to procure a pre-adoption vet check. Chez Chevaux aggressively seeks to place each horse in the home best suited to make a permanent commitment to that individual.

Donations

The basic expenses associated with the rescue, rehabilitation and daily care of our residents average thirty dollars per day per horse. We ask that you assist thoroughbred horses by donating at any level:

CONTRIBUTOR up to $364.00 per year
SUPPORTER $365.00 to $730.00 per year
SPONSOR $731.00 to $4,386.00 per year
BENEFACTOR $4387.00 to $8,773.00 per year
ANGEL $8,774.00 and above per year
SHOW SPONSOR $300.00 per day/per show

Becoming a show sponsor allows us to better expose our rehabilitated and retrained horses to potential adopters. You can enjoy all the fun of having a show horse without all the work!

We are actively fundraising to build a covered arena to allow for better turnout and consistent winter work. No amount is too small.

All donations are tax deductible. Ask for a receipt and/or a donation letter. Make checks payable to Chez Chevaux.
Credit or debit card contributions may be made via online.

Foster a Horse
We cannot house and support every thoroughbred that we are asked to take in. We appreciate hearing from those who may have the facilities, time and means to help foster those who have been severely neglected, abused, and/or are simply no longer wanted. Rescued horses need their health and trust in humans restored before they can be retrained for second careers.

Volunteer
Volunteers are needed and greatly appreciated. Prior equine experience is preferred but not necessary for volunteers at least 18 years of age. We do not allow volunteers less than 16 years of age to handle horses.  Potential volunteers less than 18 must have horse experience, and be accompanied by his/her parent or legal guardian for his/her first site visit.
Minor volunteers must have their own  transportation or have the chauffeuring parent/legal guardian remain on site during their volunteer hours. They may not be dropped off and picked up.
